Substitute Lesson Plans for Administration of Justice: Common Legal Terms

Lesson Overview

In this lesson, students will review legal terms commonly used in court decisions and police reports.

Each career path has its own vocabulary. Sometimes the words are in common usage, but they have a specialized meaning when used in the profession. The Administration of Justice in general and law enforcement in particular is no different. In a previous lesson the student began making a personal glossary composed of new terms that he, or she, picked up in the textbook or while studying. In this lesson specific legal terms that are commonly used in court decisions and police reports are examined.

Student Learning Goals/Objectives

  • Differentiate between common and legal terms in law enforcement.
