The Purepecha

The Purepecha (also known as Tarascans) are from the valley regions of Mexico in present day Northern Michoacan and Southern Jalisco. Modern indigenous Purepecha reside in the areas of Michoacan between the towns of Cheran and Patzcuaro. The Purepecha were never conquered by the Mexica (Aztecs) due to their possession of metal ore and skill at making metal weapons.
