Get in Order! Using Transition Words in Narrative Writing

This lesson provides tools and materials for students to demonstrate mastery of transitional strategies in narrative writing at the third grade level. Students will work to build mastery of temporal words by using these words to signal the flow of events in their writing. The lesson plan includes multiple, ready-to-use graphic organizers, and activities to help students move from a surface level of learning to a transfer level with a culminating 2–3 paragraph tall tale.
